All my cockiness about the squirrels not being able to get to the free standing birdfeeder was burst today as I saw a hugh grey squirrel sitting on top of it, just eating away. Oh well, the best laid plans they say?

What a day it was - down vest weather - perfect to fiddle in the yard and garden, which I did. Not anything to write about, but all those little things that you get accomplished that make you feel full inside. The temperatures are suppose to stay pretty nice for a couple more days, and I will welcome it for the finishing up of winterizing.

Lilly and I had a lovely walk this morning, I could feel Thanksgiving in the air. You know that warm cozy feeling on Thanksgiving afternoon when everything is cleaned up and you are so full you just have to get out and move....that's the feeling today. Maybe because the real feeling is just a week away....Daaaaaa!

Sunday morning, 5am 11/18 (Jeff's Birthday!!) will be a hugh meteor shower, and we plan to be out there seeing it all. I was told today that this won't happen again for 100 years......that's enough to inspire me to hustle out on a cold Sunday morning! THere could be as many as 4000+ that can be seen, of course I don't think I will try counting...but the feeling of seeing those meteor is such a thrill, the ooohs and aaahs are all you can say about it. What a way to celebrate your 33rd Birthday...way to go Jeff :)

Well, I found out yesterday that I do NOT have the perfect outdoor wear for garden and yard work in 10-15 mph winds in Maine!!
My snuggly coat that is perfect for walks and casual destinations isn't worth poop to work in!!! SO, now I have a new treasure to find - hey! I spent more time zipping and unzipping my coat so I could move and bend and squat...it practically wore me out. And then - trying to keep my hat on my head while I was moving and bending and squatting was a whole n'other matter. But that is more easily solved. I wonder if they make work coats that spread out like funnels on the bottom..uuhhmm...?

But I did get alot accomplished...thanks, I just needed that time to vent!

We added another dimension to the Goddess Garden. An oxblood-color chimanea. She has a wonderful shape and will keep us warm and cozy as we gaze at the Night Sky over our garden. We had one in Georgia, but it never made it onto the 3rd truck and we have missed it ever since. It supported sitting in garden in the evenings, between keeping the bugs away and the atmosphere it brought. SO now we have one again, and she is most welcome!

Today the high is to be around 39...but sunny. Salon is tonite and Su.Sane and I have "eggplant/zucchini lasagne" to make and then it is outside to play and walk. Since preparing the entrance to the Goddess Garden with the picket fencing - you can't keep us out of there. SOOOO many plans for Christmas - it will be childlike magic!

I have some serious hunting through my closet to do, for proper garden attire - and oh yes - the Sloggers are not proper for 39* weather I'll tell yah...your little toes numb right up! It's LLBean shoes to the rescue with the cozy fannel lining :).

For all the years we, as a family, dreamed of living in Maine - we envisioned our yard and gardens and home, what they would all feel like. One of the imaginings was white picket fencing! Yesterday, the beginning of that dream appeared! While yard sailing (probably the last till late Spring) in Rockport, we found the fencing. It is that wonderful design that dips down in the center of the fence (not sure what the proper name is for that shape), and is the design we have ooohed and aaahed over during our walks down Bayview and Chestnut Streets.

So after lunch, Robert and Su.Sane set to place the fence up as the entrance to the Goddess Garden. It is beautiful!!!! We had already planned for the Garden to be lighted for the holidays and this entrance has expanded all the potentials and dreams we have
felt. WOW. After straightening up our musings, the excitement for this space began to build it. It will be wonderful this winter in the snow.

Ah yes, the decision was made and yesterday Robert and Joseph picked up our used-rebuilt snow thrower! So now we can have
paths to the Goddess Garden, the Land of ME Garden, Lilly's run, and the front porch........can you believe it! Yes, it means more physical work but sure beats shoveling, and the driveway should be clearer now and the snow stored in the areas we want it!!

As I write this I am listening to Paul Parents Garden Club on WBACH 106.9, every Sunday 6am-10am. It is a call-in show with all kinds of information on the yard and garden - pertinent to Maine and northern NE. A lot of our questions get answered on this show, because it is so local, especially with the weather fluctuations. And today, I'm taking the pine needle mulch off the perennial bed until the ground freezes...he said the moles are very busy this year and you don't want them nesting in your mulch. Okeydokey!

I am off to see what the day brings, I'll return later!
